I am a First Grade teacher at a Title One school in N.C. In my classroom I have nineteen very diverse students who are on all different learning levels. One common characteristic all of my students share is their love for Science. I fell that Science is an amazing subject to teach especially when it comes to saving the environment. In my classroom I hope to help my students build a love for Science and help them realize how important is is to keep our planet clean by Recycling.

I want my students to understand ways to keep the environment clean but this is where I face a struggle. It is hard to teach 19 students about how to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle objects without the proper equipment. The students in my class love hands-on activities and I feel that teaching them about the environment through hands-on activities is an excellent idea. I just need to get the proper Science resource to teach and make learning about Recycling fun!

In order for our Recycling project to come to life I have found some excellent resources we could use. Our class would need on Environmental Awareness Theme Library. These books could help us learn facts about Recycling and things that the student can do to help save the Earth. Our class would also need one Learn to Recycle Activity Kit, one Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Activity Kit, and a set of Science Folder Games. All of these resources would help our class to fully understand how important Recycling is and it would help to spread awareness to their families and other students after we finished our classroom lessons and activities.

By funding our project you will be helping a group of nineteen students learn what they can do to help save the environment. If we want our plant to stay clean, we need to start spreading awareness early. This group of student is the perfect group to start with because they love Science and I know they will want to save the planet after learning more about Recycling! Thanks for making our dreams come true!
