You Tell Me Your Story and I'll Tell You Mine!

My students need big book theme packets to help them comprehend the story and associate a concrete object with the story, in order to retell it. My students need one big book copy each of Brown Bear, Brown Bear and It Looked Like Spilled Milk. They need one set of the storytelling kits for each story, in order to comprehend the story and be able to retell the story with concrete objects.

I'll tell you my story and you tell me yours. That is the dream that I have for my students. I want them to be able to retell and familiar story. I work in a rural school district that is considered a high poverty area. I am a resource teacher for students in grades K-3 working with children with high needs.

I work in a high poverty school. Our resources are limited. My students struggle with comprehending stories and having the ability to retell events of the story. They struggle with abstract ideas, so I feel having manipulatives to retell the story with aid in comprehension.

I need big books and story kits for Brown Bear, Brown Bear and It Looked Like Spilled Milk with concrete manipulatives to help my students comprehend the idea of the story. The storytelling kits with allow my students to interact with the story. My students will become independent motivated readers. It will give them confidence to speak in front of the others.

Your help will ensure that my students have the concrete items to help them understand stories and allow them to retell stories to other classmates. Your gift will help my students become readers.
