I am a veteran (34 year) fourth grade teacher. My students are discovering their individual interests, developing reading habits that will stay with them for life, and becoming very curious about a multitude of subjects. They are products of a technologically oriented society and are excited about information presented through a variety of methods, including via computer. The digital laser projector will help ignite their desire to learn about a variety of subjects, allow the class to safely research via the internet, and will appeal to both visual and auditory learners through an exciting technological means.

Due to limited funding, the school district is unable to keep up with technology. Right now, the use of online and computer-generated activities that are available to supplement and extend the reading series is limited due to lack of the necessary technological devices to view them with.

With the purchase of a digital laser projector, students would be excited about learning, which would increase what they retain. They would no longer groan about the "boring paper and pencil" exercises, but would be enthralled with interactive images that would bring what they are learning to life. Our reading series, Scott Foresman Reading Street, offers many online activities that correspond with each story from the unit of our reading books for all grade levels. These activities include vocabulary games, spelling practice, comprehension drills, PowerPoint presentations, and laser projects. A digital laser projector would allow all of my students to benefit from these wonderful educational activities.

Your donation will help bring excitement back into education. It will empower the children to explore new subjects with renewed enthusiasm for learning, which will be a lifelong asset.
