Boom! Boom! Boom! That's the sound of my students learning to read music while having fun playing the Boomwhackers! I teach prek-fifth grade general music in a rural, high need community.

My students love to play instruments! However, with recent budget cuts, it has been difficult to obtain enough instruments for all of my students in a class to be able to play together.

To fix this problem, we need Boomwhackers, which are brightly colored, plastic tubes cut in different lengths to create different pitches. When students hit the Boomwhackers on the floor, they make sound. We also need Boomwhacker music and games. These activities would help my students to learn to identify the names of the notes on the staff. Each student would have to find their own notes on the staff and would be responsible for playing their notes along with the class. This would greatly improve my students' music reading skills.

Your help will ensure that my students would be provided with the materials they need in order to further develop their musical abilities. Many of my students have demonstrated potential to be quality musicians. You will help to inspire the musicians of our future!
