Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach computers and computer based curriculum to our 433 low SES (socioeconomic status) student population. Over 90% of our student families qualify for Title 1 federal aide in the way of free or reduced lunch, breakfast, and after school programs. Access to technology for our under-served students is limited to school hours. For this reason we like to provide the best opportunities to develop the 21st century skills required to compete in our increasingly connected global culture.

Students are hungry to use digital technology to capture, video, record, and post the lessons they are learning. Many are impressed with what has been accomplished with one antiquated, low resolution digital camera. Now is the time to update and demonstrate what can be done when the best tools are made available.

A high resolution digital camera that can capture short video while mounted on a tripod will enable the students to create their own yearbook for both print and on-line display. Instead of poor quality, grainy images being depicted as done in previous years, students will be enabled to show off their new digital age skills.

Your help will make it possible for these young minds to flourish in spite of the economic crisis and resulting budget shortfalls. Such aide from donors builds morale like no other and the smiles I get to enjoy are because donors like you expressed your concern by giving. Thank you.
