"I am a first grade teacher in New York. A major obstacle I face is finding funding for technology that would benefit my students by actively engaging them in our units of studies. We all know that technology provides innovative ways of presenting information. An interactive touchsensitive whiteboard would make a significant difference in a classroom of students with diverse learning styles. Research has proven that visual learning is one of the best methods of teaching to multiple learning styles to improve students comprehension and retention. An interactive touch sensitive whiteboard will meet the visual and kinesthetic needs of the individual student and enable all students to progress. I will be able to keep my students actively engaged in learning and help them to retain information taught thus providing a deeper level of knowledge. The classroom environment will become alive as students are able to interact with the curriculum with the use of graphs, pictures and diagrams that can be manipulated on the whiteboard. The interactive touchsensitive whiteboard would motivate my students to learn. The students in my class whom are English language learners could see visual representations of everything we will be learning and learned about in class. They will be able to use the board for the hands-on learning that they so desperately need. My highest achieving students will be able to prepare and present lessons to their classmates using the interactive board. As a dedicated and committed teacher I will use the board to present dynamic interactive lessons that will excite my students and enhance their learning in reading, writing, social studies, science, and math! This project will change the lives of my students. They will learn so much and feel empowered by being able to use this great resource. You will make it possible for my students to be great little readers by the end of the school year. Your help will ensure that my students can learn through their learning style by incorporating more interactive learning that reaches kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learners.
