Kindergarten is one of the most important years of a child's life and you have an opportunity to make a difference! Welcome to our inquisitive kindergarten classroom of boys and girls. We are an inner-city school that receives free breakfast and lunch. We are a sanctuary for many of our children with our doors opening at 7:45 and closing at 6:30 for children that need it. We are a diverse, hard-working, enthusiastic group of boys and girls that strive to do our very best despite the daily challenges we face.

Due to budget cuts, resources are inadequate. Young children need to discover the world around them through interactions and hands-on activities that involve them. Science is so exciting to young minds and each time the children step outdoors they ask about everything. Explaining the metamorphosis of a butterfly is challenging enough, but to a five year old, it is nearly impossible. The children are so excited about spring and everything changing around them they are full of questions. They would love to know how caterpillars change into butterflies. This is where a wonderful donor like yourself can help out an inner-city classroom that would be unable to witness this miracle firsthand.

Our classroom needs a butterfly life cycle kit so that the children may witness, on a daily basis, this transformation. We have begun to study caterpillars and butterflies and they are so excited! They would be extremely motivated every morning to run into our classroom to view the changes. The vocabulary, writing and science that will take place from this small experiment is huge! The benefits are enormous since not only will our class have the opportunity to view the changes but we can share with our other kindergarten friends!

Your support of our project would benefit the children tremendously. They will be a part of science, they will be able to participate in group discussions about science and be able to write about the changes they have witnessed. You will make it possible for my students to be able to increase their vocabulary and be aware of their surroundings as well as involve their families in what we are doing at school. The connections are huge for such a minor donation. This project is important and your help makes a difference in the lives of inner-city children.
