Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach art for students in grades 1 -5. We are located in an urban district MA. My students are very diverse and represents 42 different countries from all over the world. Our diversity makes our school an amazing learning environment but also provides many challenges for my students, both in school and at home.

This year my school has moved to a temporary building and most of my students are being bused. The location has made it hard for parents to be involved and provide transportation for their students to and from school. I was surprised to have had 15 fifth grade students receive permission to be involved in an after school Yearbook Committee. With almost no parent participation we have no money to design and print a yearbook for the 5th grade students. In order to make a yearbook possible this year we have decided to make a DVD slideshow instead. A DVD "yearbook" is a lot cheaper to make and gets students involved in using technology in new ways and saves lifelong memories of elementary school.

In order to make a yearbook/slideshow possible for my 5th grade students this year we need blank DVDS, blank DVD labels and some nice thin markers to design the label. This project will allow students to be creative, use technology in new ways and save their elementary school memories forever. Creating a DVD slideshow will allow my students to have a yearbook this year. A DVD version of a yearbook costs less and gives students the chance to show their talents, memories and abilities through video clips, music and photographs. This DVD yearbook will be capture my students creativity and memories.

Your help with our DVD yearbook will not only provide my students with a learning opportunity but will provide them with away to keep their memories and make them smile this year, next year and many more years. You will be making the treasure of a class yearbook possible for many students that not only deserve a yearbook but will cherish it forever.
