My sixth graders are ready to read about Egypt! We have sixty-four sixth graders split into two classrooms. Because we are still in an elementary school, our students are the oldest in the school. They are the leaders! We have a very diverse group. Many of our students come from very low socio-economic backgrounds, while some come from the higher end. Our reading levels range from first grade to college level!

Our sixth grade social studies curriculum requires that we teach about ancient civilizations. The mummification process has hooked our kids into the study of ancient Egypt. Did you know they pulled the brain through the nose of a dead person in the 60 day ritual that was required to turn him into a mummy? We would really like to run with their excitement and give the students a literature connection with a historical tie to our study.

"The Golden Goblet" is a novel that will do just that. We have only 36 copies of the book. Because we try to teach the same things at the same time, it would really help to have a complete set for all 64 of our kids! It is really hard to share a novel when homework is involved!

Your help would allow us to wrap up our Egypt study with a great book! This is a gift that will be used over and over, year after year.
