I teach a 4-5-6 multiage class with two team teachers. We are a rural school district with limited resources. I am the technology teacher for all three classes. Weekly we use a computer lab to complete PowerPoint's, Publisher brochures, Excel spreadsheets, and type out stories and other projects. There are many projects in which we need to scan drawings or other pieces of work to insert into these projects. In addition the availability to check out digital cameras for the kids to take photos to insert into these personal projects would be a huge asset. At this time we are very limited in our technology resources. It would add a degree of professionalism and pride that the kids have not experienced up to this time. We would share our resources with the other students and teachers in our building.

Our students come to us naturally wanting to be curious about their learning environment. Most of our students do not have access to computers or Internet at their homes due to our rural location and lack of finances by families. However, I have found that with the limited amount of resources they are very interested and eager to learn as much as they can about the various Microsoft Office programs we have in our computer lab. It is my job to help them learn to be efficient with PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher so that they can bring forth their individual curiosities and creativity and feel pride in what they are doing.

With the scanner and digital cameras we could add a more personal element to our projects with students checking out digital cameras to take photos to add to their various projects on the computer. It would help give them the necessary skills to be successful in middle school, high school, and beyond in college or other work related situations.
