Signs Of Friendship

My students need introductory sign language materials, including books, a game, books and DVDs.

I teach 3rd grade in a school with a diverse population. In my class this year, I have 2 students that are hearing impaired. I wear a microphone that syncs to their hearing aids and there is a full-time sign language interpreter to translate for them.

The question "Miss J, how can I talk to my new friends?" has been voiced by many students in my class. The hearing students have embraced our hearing impaired friends and long to communicate with them.

My students are excited to utilize resources to help them learn how to sign. We are requesting books, DVDs, and games to help us master basic sign language to foster the growing friendships in our classroom.

Helen Keller's teacher, Anne Sullivan, once said, "My heart is singing for joy this morning. A miracle has happened! The light of understanding has shone upon my little pupil's mind, and behold, all things are changed." Will you help us to see the miracle of communication in our class?
