Traveling Journal Needs a Camera

My students need a digital camera and camera dock kit to capture their weekend experiences for a traveling journal. We have a stuffed animal dog named "Lucky" who travels to each child's home during the weekend. Students write about the weekend events from Lucky's point of view and can include photos as well.

We are a diverse community who has English Language Learners, Special Education services, and preschool. The students in my class are third graders who are learning to write from multiple perspectives and understand a wide variety of literary genres.

My students need this camera because they all want to share pictures from home with the stuffed animal students take home for reading activities. Often some students are able to print out pictures but I find my lower income students don't have cameras or computers to print pictures so they miss out on sharing their home life and having fun taking pictures.

Once purchased this camera will be placed in Lucky's backpack along with the journal for students to snap pictures and write about their weekend. When they bring it back to school on Monday I'll be able to print them out for them to glue into the journal and share with their peers.

You will make it possible for ALL of my students to have this worthwhile experience. Thank you.
