Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a first year teacher in a high poverty area; however, this does not limit my outlook on what my students deserve. I am hoping to teach my students that there is a purpose for setting goals and meeting them. A sense of achievement and accomplishment would do tremendous for the egos of most of my students. I am hoping to introduce the idea of setting goal in a fun with. The idea is to video tape students silently demonstrating their goals and adding inspirational music as a background. We can later view the video footage to continue to encourage the students who maybe losing interest in their own achievement.

I have chosen to limit my technology requests to outside resources only because I understand the order of operation on materials requested and I feel that a camcorder would fall in the category of low priority.

I have worked through the ranks of this particular school for over 6 years. I am now a certified teacher thrilled at the opportunity to work at a school where I have taken part in the daily education of the at risk students. Through these years I have come to the realization that some students need an additional motivator to encourage them to achieve their goals. I think there would be no grater motivator then that of seeing themselves acting out their goals and dreams.

Have you ever looked at a picture of yourself in elementary and wondered what you where thinking or aspiring to be at that moment? The idea of allowing my students to video tape this exact phenomenon would not only provide them with motivation throughout the year but memories to last a life time. Thank you for considering helping my students.
