GET KIDS EXCITED ABOUT READING AGAIN! I teach 7th grade Language Arts in Texas. Literature is the great common denominator through a generation.

While reading the classics is fine, kids need to read contemporary works that will one day become "classics." Twilight is one of these. A New York Times Bestseller, Editor's Pick, and Amazon "Best book of he decade...so far" and translated into many languages, Twilight is a worldwide phenomenon. Students are drawn into the world of Bella and Edward and will not want to stop reading. Many book cubs have formed over this book, there are so many things to study and discuss, so many themes and questions. But the most important thing is that this book will be a segue into a year of reading, which will quite possibly become a lifelong love of reading. No drugs, no sex, just great characters and writing, lots of action, and a vivid tromp into another world.

I would like a class set, hardcover, to study this book with students each year. With this set of books, we will be able to increase fluency, and interest students in real literature, not just standardize-test style reading.

How would you like to be responsible for providing the tool that takes a child from a troubled youth, feeling alone, thinking that nobody "gets" her, to someone who will have company forever because she has found her soul's kindred spirit through a book? Twilight can do that. I would love to have the resources available to do a proper literature study of this future classic. Thank you.
