Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

It's all about learning--especially new words--for my students! In English Lit for freshmen and sophomores, continued vocabulary development is essential. Teaching in an under-served community makes customized instruction a struggle. YOUR support will provide an interesting way to learn and study vocabulary!

Students love to listen to music and FLOCABULARY has come up with an engaging way to deliver just that: new vocabulary through hip-hop songs! It is frustrating for students to come to school and face the same old same old. Now, with CD players, we can enjoy expanding our vocabulary and making education a little more interesting. My students are excited to get started with their music/vocab lessons.

To inspire and re-engage some fringe students in English, we need only 10 personal CD players. Students will work in small groups (10 or less) listening to music and learning more than 500 new words! It is really that easy and will be embraced by our students!

Have you ever wanted to make a difference? By supporting this project, think about the difference you will make: the media portrays my students as unteachable, and too often the students buy into that. By providing 10 CD players, you will empower more than 60 students with a stronger vocabulary that improves test scores AND you will make learning fun for them. That is making a difference!
