Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I would love if you would partner with the teachers of MS 302. At MS 302 we have started a program to put many of our talented South Bronx middle school students into NYC's specialized high schools. To accomplish this task, four teachers have volunteered to tutor seventh grade students, before the school day begins, to provide the necessary test preparations for the specialized high schools examination. This exam is offered the first weekend in October to eighth graders. The book that is the current leader in helping students pass the exam is Barron's How to Prepare for the NYC SSHSAT. We expect to have twenty students in the program. These students are expected to fail. There is no gifted program for seventh graders at our school and consequently, we will lose these students to the system because they have been ignored. The Specialized High School Admissions test requires a lot of training and practice. This program is a place where our hard working students are given a challenge and an opportunity to exercise their gifts. Your donation will be greatly appreciated. It will ensure our students have the opportunity to attend the best schools possible.
