Most of my students perform far below grade level, yet these resources have helped them stay focused, regulate their emotions, and persevere through challenging grade‑level tasks. One powerful moment was during our Amplify lessons: students who normally shut down were suddenly completing 10 problems a day because they were excited to earn points toward rewards. They are also learning practical money‑management skills by deciding whether to save up for larger prizes or spend their points on smaller items.\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited and immediately began setting personal goals for what they wanted to earn. Their enthusiasm translated directly into increased engagement and positive academic behaviors—from checking their work to using academic vocabulary to encouraging their peers. Our next steps include continuing to strengthen their independence in reading and math while using the incentive system to build stamina, responsibility, and self-regulation. Thanks to these resources, my classroom now has a positive structure that motivates students to work toward their own success every day.","fullyFundedDate":1765205107474,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-prizes-that-motivate-students/9647093/","projectTitle":"Classroom Prizes That Motivate Students to Work Toward Goals","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dejesus","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10221400_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x240,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1772545676485","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10221400"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1245","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":321,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":80,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"8.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":58.8,"schoolId":1245,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Middle School 302 Luisa Dessus Cruz on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Middle School 302 Luisa Dessus Cruz","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ms-302-luisa-dessus-cruz/1245"}
