Hello Friend, I am a first grade regular education teacher. I teach at a public school that serves students in grade K-3. In an effort to assist my students with being successful with learning, I would love to have a classroom rug for my meeting area.

If I had a rug to put in my meeting area, my students would each have an assigned "spot" just for them. Since I could assign them a square, no longer would my students argue over where they are supposed to sit. I use my meeting area as a place for introducing new skills, reviewing skills that have been previously taught as well as have class meetings to discuss events or problems that are going on in our room. Now my meeting area is just the smelly old carpet that is my classroom. The carpet covers the concrete floor and it is really hard! When I sit on the floor during small groups or whole group activities, it really does hurt my backside. I can only imagine how my students feel after sitting on it day in and out! I would be able to use this classroom rug also for playing games with math and reading since it features letters, shapes and numbers on it.

Oh my goodness! Where should I start to express how my students will benefit from this classroom rug? For starters, my students will be more excited about coming down to our meeting area since they will have a nice rug to sit on while in group. Less time will be wasted since I will assign each student a square to sit in; therefore, students will not argue over who sits where. I will also use the rug as a learning tool since my students can visually see the letters, numbers and shapes that are on the rug.

I hope you will consider funding my proposal for the classroom rug. Not only will my students be just THRILLED when they are sitting at group but they will also have their very own spot to square to sit in. I truly appreciate you taking your time to read my proposal and I hope you have a wonderful day! (My students thank you too!)
