Welcome to my DonorsChoose.org Giving Page. I teach full-day pre-K in Fulton County (East Point, GA). My 22 students are just like any other four-year-olds -- they are curious about the world around them, love to share stories about themselves, and are eager to learn. I am working to create a language- and content-rich learning environment to help close the achievement gap between my students and their more affluent peers. According to an oft-cited study by Hart and Risley, my students know about 11 million less words than their more affluent peers. Closing this vocabulary gap is one of my big goals for my students. I am seeking funds to purchase a classroom audio amplification system. The rationale underlying the use of classroom audio systems in general education classrooms is simple: how well children hear their teacher affects how well they learn. hide
