Nocatee Elementary School is located in DeSoto County, a very rural area of FL. We have wonderful students and they deserve the best education, but we also have many challenges. Our school has a very high (90%) percentage of students who receive free or reduced price lunch. Many of the students' parents do not speak English at home and/or work several jobs, making it difficult to support their children with homework and reading. Many of the students' parents do not speak English at home and/or work several jobs, making it difficult to support their children with homework and reading. We are an inclusion school which means most of our special education students are fully included in regular education classrooms. Also, we are a school without walls, which creates its own set of challenges with noise and distractions. Because the school was built in the 70s, many of our furniture items are old and outdated. As you can see, we are a school with many needs, and our resources are limited. Please consider supporting our school by making a donation to one of these proposals created by Nocatee's teachers!
