My dear Friends and Mommy's Martini Readers, DonorsChoose.org allows public school teachers to describe projects that need funding in order to improve the education they can offer their students. I am participating in a donor challenge trying to help get a few of these worthy projects funded. The ones I've chosen all focus on literacy issues: reading, writing, and getting students excited about harnessing for themselves the power of language. I have picked projects from states across the country but focused on schools that have never been funded before, and ones in high poverty areas, as those seem to me to be the most needy. I will match donations up to the first $100; my sister will match the next $100. So donate early to double your donation! In addition, some of these projects have corporations or grants matching donations -- which means every $5 you donate has the potential to become $20 for the project. Every little bit counts. You can make a difference in children's quality of learning. So please choose a project that inspires you, and help children across the United States today.
