My first cousin, who is more like my sister, is a sixth grade teacher at Willowbrook Middle School in Compton, CA. I don't even have to describe what this must be like. Danielle, known as Miss K to her students, is extremely passionate about helping her students beat the odds and become productive members of society. These children come from broken homes and a gang infected community. She works after school and even Saturdays on her own time to help these children succeed. These children are developing a positive bond with Miss K which I believe will affect who they become. This is a very vulnerable time for a child, and a lot of these children don’t even get to be “children”. Changing the path for just one child makes the hard work worth it. Unfortunately, with lack of proper teaching supplies and materials, it makes it very difficult to offer these children a quality education which ALL children deserve. I am on a mission to help my cousin have access to materials she needs to fulfill her mission. Please join me in helping the children in our very own state become successful in school and beyond. Donorschoose.org allows teachers to ask the public for supplies they need for their classroom, and Miss K has a special request that will benefit her classes.
