The Big Ten has taken some knocks over the past two seasons. Supposedly, two bad showings against SEC teams in the National Championship Game is enough to prove that the Big Ten is slow, weak, and soft compared to the beasts of the PAC-10 and especially the SEC. You can readily admit that the past two bowl seasons haven't exactly gone your way. But you show no fear. You know you've got the best rivalry in the country. You've got the biggest stadium in the country. You've got the oldest and one of the all time best coaches in the country. You're still pulling in top recruiting classes and populating the top 10 spots in the preseason and postseason polls. The media can continue to speak as if the vultures are circling. Fans of the PAC-10 and SEC can have their fill of jeers and taunts. It's only a matter of years, perhaps only a matter of months, before the universe is righted and your conference regains its place atop the pantheon of college football conferences.
