As part of a 3-year partnership with the Koret Foundation, TFA-Bay Area has launched an in-house school design experience, The Innovation Collaborative, to support educators in designing and testing more equitable teaching practices. The Innovation Collaborative is a four-part design boot camp in which teams will build a prototype for deeper student learning and receive a start-up grant to support ongoing expansion of the prototype next year. Throughout the experience, teachers will also hone problem solving, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills as they work in strengths-based design teams.

“We believe our corps members come to us with an incredible ability to be creative and think outside the box,” says Samir Bolar, Chief Impact Officer at Teach For America. “The Innovation Collaborative provides an outlet to apply their creativity to teaching and learning, and we hope this experience makes a significant impact in their classroom, and also ignites a desire to stay in education and apply their creativity toward solving complex challenges in this work over the long term.”
