Help me give my students Makerspace materials, like Osmo, Sphero, snap circuits and more, to encourage creativity, real-world design thinking, and cross-curricular connections! Students will be able to learn collaboration and thoughtful design processes through hands-on experiences.
At a suburban public school, the students in my 1st grade classroom come from diverse backgrounds. They have various academic, social-emotional, physical, and socioeconomic needs, some needing speech services while others are on behavior plans. It is imperative that we have what we need to meet these needs in the classroom. They are a wonderful, energetic group of 10 boys and 10 girls, and to help them maintain their positive attitudes and bubbly personalities, we want to ensure all of their needs are met throughout the day. Some students need encouragement and gentle reminders to stay on task, and this requires engaging and differentiated instruction.
By providing a safe, risk-free, welcoming environment, students can maintain a positive and comfortable learning experience in our classroom community.
They come in every morning with a ready-to-learn attitude, and we want to help them maintain that by keeping their focus on learning and having fun. We do not want them to have to worry about anything else throughout the day!
My Project
Within our first-grade classroom, our curious learners are always ready to explore and move forward with their thinking! These materials will help create a space in our classroom for students' imaginations to come to life.
With your help, 20 first-grade students will be able to build their creative knowledge through hands-on learning, which is of the utmost importance at this influential age!
It is my goal to have students collaborate and create in our new Makerspace. In giving them a wide choice of materials and task ideas, they may discover passions and outlets to express themselves. With the engineering and building materials, such as Brain Flakes, Snap circuits, Tumble Trax, and magnetic tiles, students will be able to plan, design, and construct things from their own imaginations. With Osmo and Sphero, students will be able to implement technology to enhance their communication and collaboration skills.
