In this project students learn how to apply the math and science they've learned throughout their high school careers to an area that is considered extremely difficult—rocket science. We've been spending the past month learning about everything from the space race to rocket and satellite components, and now they will design their own rocket propulsion. This shows them the value of math in science while proving that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to. While we can see many pictures of rocket engines and launches, nothing beats the learning potential of being able to manipulate and examine an engine, spacecraft, or launch up close in a virtual and immersive environment will greatly extend my students learning and growth. Further, with access to VR I plan on using it in all of my classes throughout the year. From exploring the inner workings of aircraft or visiting the Wright Brothers first flight to exploring an architectural marvel or being "on-site" for the build of an energy efficient building, VR can truly revolutionize our students growth!
