My science classroom at TBA blends digital learning with hands-on labs. We use many digital resources as both sources of learning and as means share our learning. In order to use these digital sources effectively, we need high quality, durable headphones that will last much longer, be more comfortable, and deliver better quality sound than the inexpensive models we started the year with. Students will be able to hear instructional videos from our computer programming tutorial, brainpop, flocabulary, and many other digital content sources. The headphones will allow us to begin our labs armed with the knowledge to make great hypotheses, analyze data, and draw conclusions. My class engages in a number of cell labs and pond ecosystem studies for which we use microscopes extensively. My classroom urgently needs slide coverslips to do these labs and colored pencils to record our observations. With the coverslips, students will be able to see their own cheek cells, compare and contrast plant and animal cells, and explore the hidden world of microscopic pond life. Students will then be able to draw their observations using the classroom pack of colored pencils. The materials in this DonorsChoose Project will help our classroom truly blend the digital world with the hands-on learning so necessary in science.
