My students are in third grade and most of them are military kids as our school is located on Eglin AFB. These students are used to their parents going on long deployments. My students love to READ, and my goal is to foster their love of reading and guide them towards being lifelong learners. We complete project-based assignments in our classroom and often allow free choice which encourages students to choose topics that interest them. The focus for my students is incorporating reading, writing, and discussion through good literature. Some of our favorite authors are E.B. White, Judith Viorst, Ann Cameron, Jack Prelutsky, Shel Silverstein, Kate DiCamillo, Patricia Pollaco, Eve Bunting, and Theodore Geisel. As you can tell, we also love Snoopy and all the rest of the Peanuts characters created by Charles Schulz!
