Music is an essential part of a student's growth and intellectual development. Aside from the correlation between a student's involvement in music and higher performance in STEM areas, music provides opportunities for students to collaborate, perform, and express themselves. Our school simply does not have enough instruments for the growing student involvement in our music classes, and many of the instruments we do have are worn out and outdated: these 2 clarinets are the first step to fixing that. An increasing focus on STEM and tech careers has left no funding available for performing arts in our school district. Students are often faced with a choice to purchase their own instrument, or simply quit playing music. It is my goal to allow an opportunity to any student who wants to participate in music classes without needing to consider the financial cost of the equipment.
