Flexible seating will give my students a choice of where they sit. For whole group, they will sit on the carpet together. During independent, partner and small group time, they will be able to choose a seat and location in the classroom that best fits their own learning needs. When I was subbing in classrooms that had flexible seating, I was able to witness the high level of engagement that students have and the learning that takes place, when students are given a choice on where to sit. I want to ensure that there are various seating options for my students when implementing flexible seating, so I chose items like, stability balls, stools and cushions for my project. Each item can be used at a desk or a table. The yoga mats will allow students to comfortably sit in parts of the room that aren't carpeted.
