I am a Special Education teacher for 10 students in a self-contained Multiple Disability classroom within a public school in Louisville, KY. My students are resilient. They are courageous. They are some of the most amazing people I have ever met! Sadly, they have many obstacles in their way. Autism, developmental disabilities, and severe communication disorders are extreme barriers to learning and to building relationships with others. My students struggle with communicating their wants/needs and their knowledge. They are willing and able students, but lack the resource to tell us what they know!
