Research shows that the arts help children develop the habits of mind needed to deepen their learning, do better in school, and cultivate social/emotional skills. I want to give my students the opportunity to study and learn about great artists. Every month, I will introduce a new artist to my students. They will read about the artist's life and will become familiar with the artist work. The students will also have the opportunity to create their own art and make their own portfolio. The composition books will be use to take notes, the markers, colored pencils, and glue sticks will be use to create art and the three ring binders and the plastic folders will be use for their portfolios.
