The students I serve are low-income at-risk children who come to me and my class as a safe space. But with a small class it can be challenging to provide space and materials for all the children to enjoy and love. By giving them a new book shelf and soft comfy seating it will mean that they do not have to look through a basket of books to just on the floor and read. The book basket does not allow for the children to see what books are available and sometimes they dont even notice there favorite book because it was hidden behind another. A new standing book shelf would give the students the ablity to see all the books and give them more visable options to choose from. And who won't enjoy sitting on a comfy little couch or chair verses sitting on the hard uncomfortable floor? By incorporating an appealing comfy reading area I beleive that my students will be more likely to sit and enjoy a story. By giving my students a positve learning environement, I am also giving them a bright start to a lifelong love of reading!
