These books will provide an opportunity for my students to engage in a new unit that will allow them the opportunity to travel the world. During this unit students will read 6-7 graphic novels that take place in different countries around the world. Not only will the read and discuss the social injustice that occurred in the novel, they will also learn about the geography, cultural beliefs and even a popular recipe. With graphic novels, I have seen my students engage, discuss and think deeper than any other text we've read as a class. The products I have selected will allow each student to have a book in front of them as we embark on a journey around the world. I have chosen graphic novels that I know no student has yet read. All books address history, culture, social justice and equality while taking place in a country that we will be 'visiting' while reading the text. My students will love this journey and I know this experience will be one they wont forget and utilize in their own lives.
