My first grade students attend a small, rural elementary school in central Pennsylvania. In a few days, they'll come to me just knowing the alphabet and letter sounds and able to write 3 to 4 sentences in kid-spelling, but they will leave me all too soon in June reading chapter books and writing paragraphs using adult spelling.
