My students live in an urban community that is over crowded, parents typically have more than one child and the annual income is extremely low. The majority of my students are Hispanic. My students are so bright and loving and everyday they yearn for more. As a teacher, I try to give everything that I can, but it's just impossible to buy everything they all need. My school is on the top 10 list of the largest schools in America. We have over 2000 students and we are extremely over crowded. Supplies are limited and we get only $50.00 for reimbursement for supplies that we purchase. This year, I spent well over $600.00 of my own money buying supplies, such as pencils, notebooks, folders, arts and crafts supplies etc.
