One of the classes I teach is a design class focusing on interior and fashion design. Students love learning the elements of design and applying them to "wearable art" and making paper designs on dress forms. By adding sewing machines to our classroom, students will be able to expand their skill-set and learn more about production. Offering a class like this gives students a more well-rounded and broader perspective and skill set for life. I have taught a similar class at my previous school that was very popular and I would love for my new students to have the same experience and opportunities. Besides learning about careers in the fashion and design world, students will also use these machines to complete service projects such as sewing baby blankets delivered to a local NICU and sewing dresses for girls in other countries.
