Coding and Making…today's education in action! Please support my kids! We need a 3D Printer and Dell Venue tablets for our MakerSpace. Watching the thinking, collaborating and the “It worked!” moments of students collaborating and creating is thrilling. Our coding lessons begin with a “human computer”, choosing a student to be the computer and walk a grid following commands. From there each group moves to the digital world of Lightbot for collaborative coding. All the kids have had an opportunity to work with multiple programs to learn that, as my 8 year old ESL student stated- “…the directions parallel each other!” What a great way to see that once you have coded, directions indeed take a similar course. Our kids are diverse and include a high number of ESL students. These and all students benefit from the opportunity to use coding and making for project based learning experiences.
