Working in a predominantly Hispanic school, a large focus for our students is on soccer. We have won at least one championship each year we have been open. As the volleyball coach, I want to help our students become confident in other sports as well. Last year, working with the fifth, sixth, and seventh graders, we had three volleyballs for the whole team. This year we will be adding eighth grade as well. For a lot of the players, playing on the volleyball team last year was their very first time. We worked hard to improve our skills. As the season went on our skills did improve! Our confidence grew! We were two points away from beating one of our toughest competitors! With this donation, I will be able to continue help building confidence in my volleyball players on and off of the court. Seeing the growth in their skills on the court and in the classroom has been a very impacting experience. These players have found a new love for the sport, as well as, creating new, trusting relationships in each other. As a teacher and a coach, there is nothing more that I could ask for.
