Having a listening center equipt with engaging Spanish books with cds in my classroom would be an invaluable resource for my kindergarten students. It would provide opportunities to cultivate students' innate interest in discovering new adventures through age-appropriate picture books. Students would be able follow along in colorful and intriguing books as they can listen to the stories read to them orally on cd. This would allow students to take in the visual cues of the text and illustrations as they are transported into an imaginary world through the auditory language that they are presented via their headsets. Through the use of a listening center, my students would not only be able to develop their reading skills, but would also be able to improve their Spanish language acquisition skills as well. Students would be able to listen to new vocabulary and ascertain the meaning through the context of the stories. Giving my students the opportunity to listen to these books on cd would bring a whole new aspect to their exposure to the Spanish language and their overall educational experience.
