My students come from a range of backgrounds and some not only face economic barriers, but language barriers as well. Our school and teachers work hard to introduce bigger and real-world questions for our students who live in a town with lower income families, less funding, and less cultural experiences. Many of my students need to help out their parents and siblings after school, or their family members only speak Spanish, and they do not always have the time to read independently at night. Therefore, I am working my hardest to expose them to interesting and engaging novels during the school day. Not only do I want to improve their comprehension and fluency skills, I would love to help them develop a love for reading and writing.
