I believe that the love of reading is one of the most important gifts I can give to my students. Our classroom is centered around choice reading, where skills are taught through individual conversations and conferences to allow students to read content that they love. Providing an abundance of choices in reading allows for all kids to flourish and nurture their love of reading! The more books I have in the classroom to offer, the more they will want to devour. By providing ample time to read and vast choice of genres, I'm hoping to foster an immense love of reading for life. With this project, I’ll be able to stock our classroom with several book series, including the Series of Unfortunate Events, Harry Potter, Diary of A Wimpy Kid and The Percy Jackson series. All of these are high interest sets that will provide hours, days and weeks of new material for my students to gobble up! The Scholastic News magazines will provide new content WEEKLY for my non-fiction lovers and allow for new, current events to be present in the classroom. Your generosity will be so very appreciated!
