Teachers work hard to reach each and every student in their classrooms. All of the best teaching strategies can only work when the kids are actually in the seats. This can be tough for kids that face the challenge of getting themselves to and from school every day. Music not only provides students with cognitive support and vital, critical thinking skills, it gives them a reason to come to school day after day. What better way to get kids fired up than with a school drumline? A school drumline teaches students to work together building pride for their school, their community, and pride in themselves. I believe it is my job to motivate students to come to school and to help them develop an intrinsic love for learning and hard work. Unfortunately, affordable, manageable equipment is limited for students of elementary school size. These bucket drums are much lighter and easier to manage for my younger elementary students and I can purchase dozens of buckets for the cost of one marching snare drum. My intention is to utilize the Remo Rhythm LIds to start an elementary school drumline, so that I can provide my students with a comprehensive percussion experience at an early age while building a bridge to the community. Participating in school and community events, students of the drumline will develop high intrinsic value for their school, their community, and themselves.
