My students are eager to read. However many of my students don't have the access to novels at home. Everyday my students build their stamina for reading. We started at 5 minutes and have built up to 20 solid minutes of enjoyable reading. I try to expose the students to many different genres and authors? They love to listen to stories. They love to share stories. The materials from this project will help them improve their language and vocabulary skills. With the variety of books I have chosen it will greatly improve and update our classroom library. With the multiple copies they can do partner reading or small group reading. Partner reading improves fluency and comprehension, something they struggle with. They work in small groups to build oral reading skills and communication as welI. want them to be successful readers. I want them to love reading! I am looking forward to seeing the excitement a new book , a new story brings to them. They learn about compassion, determination, success through reading. This project will allow me to make their success a reality.
