My students will use the camera to document their student-facilitated, healthy food awareness campaign involving food demonstrations and nutritional education classes. My students do not get many opportunities to integrate into the community and participate in activities where they can develop their social, communication and academic skills by generalizing their learning across different settings. The food warmer, baskets, kettle, bowls, knives, hairnets, chef hat and apron will provide students with the tools needed to promote healthy food awareness to a wider range of members in a community considered to be a food desert. This program will allow students to have a platform to showcase their skills and academic abilities while participating in civic engagement in order to educate the community on the importance of making healthier food choices.
