The elementary students participate in weekly general music classes that focus on the Orff-Schulwerk approach. The use of pitched percussion instruments like xylophones and metallophones is a cornerstone of the approach, as it allows students to easy make music in an ensemble setting. My current inventory consists of smaller mallet instruments that sit in the high register, which greatly limits the work that my students are able to accomplish. In order to introduce my students to more richly orchestrated pieces of music, I need bass instruments that will cover the low register and provide a foundation for the other parts in the ensemble. The Bass Metallophone and Alto Xylophone that I am requesting are the perfect instruments to accomplish this task and will bring joy to my students for years to come.
