Many of my students are English Language Learners, meaning that English is not their first language. For some of my students it is their 3rd or 4th language! For these students, headphones greatly help them listen to words read aloud to them at their own individual reading level. Unifix cubes are a powerful visualization tool for students learning math, especially when the vocabulary may be tough for them. These materials will help level the playing field for my students are increase their language development and mathematical reasoning skills and help them close the achievement gap between my students and students in wealthier areas.
