My English 4 classes will soon begin reading and discussing George Orwell's novel, 1984. The school has four English 4 classes but only one class set of the book. This makes teaching and completing the novel extremely difficult. Each of my students desperately needs a copy of 1984 in his/her hands. It is very difficult for them to thoroughly understand and complete the assignments when they have to share the books with other classes. This project will enable me to offer them the education they deserve by giving us all the tools we need for success. Individual copies of 1984 will allow us to become fully involved with the text. The students will be able to take the books home and place sticky notes on important passages. They will work cooperatively and independently to accomplish tasks. As a result, they will develop better reading skills, comprehension skills, listening skills, cooperation skills, writing skills, creativity skills, and discussion skills. I want my students to grow as readers, learners, and communicators. This project will enable me to nurture them as they grow.
