I do realize that STEM is important to teach in the classroom. It's also important to keep the students entertained and engaged while having fun learning. According to the US Department of Commerce, STEM occupations are growing at 17%. The fact that employees with STEM degrees have a higher income even in careers that do not include STEM is even more intriguing. My students love STEM projects. This is the first year that we have began to do STEM in the classroom and the kids are hooked on it. We did a project for Jack and the Beanstalk where they had to make their own giant beanstalk and ever since the students have been asking when we would do another STEM lesson. Unfortunately, I do not have the resources to do many of these projects. With the ability of having the STEAM kit(s), children will be able to read the stories, animate the puppets, answer questions and complete each STEM challenge! They will also build critical language and literacy skills, boost creative expression, master early engineering concepts and much more! Not only will this incorporate the arts into our projects, but this will also help with retelling which is crucial in younger children's literacy development.
