We are a school in an urban area. Many of our students don't have the basic necessities to come to school or the means to purchase necessary supplies. At our school, we often give out vouchers for free school uniforms because parents cannot afford to purchase uniforms. We have given out book bags filled with supplies to the majority of our students so that they can have their basic classroom needs met. Other students may start with materials but lose track of them due to many housing moves throughout the year. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with a meaningful learning experience.
